New Faces: We accept appointments for new students, actors, models, and kids, on an on-going basis until full. Please call to for a private appointment. Teens, kids, adults, are all encouraged to bring a current photo. We will give you some free advice, and help find your perfect class! Please be prompt, as we consider this part of your acceptance, and have limited meetings for new faces each week. We promise to always give a fair and impartial evaluation and guide you in the right direction ... and it's FREE!

Poppy Festival Fashion Shows: We held our fifth annual fashion show, at the Poppy Festival, April 2012, on the International stage.
See below, photos of the International costumes. Models provide their own traditional outfits from countries around the world, or rent one at Daisy's.
All ages welcome. See www.poppyfestival.com for 2013 info for April.
NOTE: You do NOT have to be a class student, to be in the poppy festival show! This is a volunteer show, with no pay, and a great practice show for students.

MODELING CLASS THURS 5 PM: A MUST for Teens!
Models classes include information on hosting and promotional models at trade shows, print work, fashion shows, infomercials, and shopping network television modeling. These jobs require poise, manners, etiquette, and upscale presentation skills. Call today to prepare your teen girls for life-skills in ANY profession, but especially commercials, fashion shows, and print. This is a confidence, self esteem and self development class. Also included are field trips to shopping challenges, spa day, hair salon, and more...
Commercials for kids, : Our improv class for Kids on camera is on Tuesday evening at 6:30. Come for an evaluation and see if you have what it takes to be on television! Feedback and honest critique for every child or teen. Take class for fun, to improve speech & presentation, or learn skills for work on camera. A fun, informative, small class makes this a MUST if your child is shy or lacks social skills. Commercials are a great part time hobby, that can bring extra income for college, and boost self esteem. Graduates move into film/ television scene study after, if desired. Preteen, teens 6:30-7:30 pm, every Tuesday night. Adult waiting list forming for improv Starting June 2012. Adults 8-10 pm Tues, run by 2nd city and Groundlings grads.
Makeover Day at a Salon, Fashion shows, Etiquette classes:
Twice per year the staff at the Academy of Style takes a group for a discounted salon visit, for a new hair cut, color, manicure/ pedicure, or facial treatment. Moms welcome to come for mother/ daughter time, or invite your sister. Limit 15 for the excursion day.
TEACHERS/ LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL LECTURES:
Our FREE lecture series is now ongoing for schools in the AV area, promoting confidence and professional presentation skills. Teachers may contact us for lectures or fundraising events to help your school. Tonia personally comes out to speak, during career days, youth events, assemblies, or to coordinate your fashion show fundraiser. Teachers, take time off while Tonia takes over class! 20 min lectures with a variety of subjects, based on your curriculum needs. FREE!

every year, students march in the parade down Lancaster Blvd in Dec:
SWORD FIGHTING: Join Wayne Crews, choreographer for television and film, as he works with actors and others in our newest MUST HAVE class! Learn Stage combat for theatre, or shoot a scene for action films. Great cardio, muscle toning, and coordination skills, in a fun filled, fast moving class. Group discount rates at the studio, Wednesday 4 pm evaluations for new students. We are now recruiting "Pirates" and "muskateers" for birthday parties. Call Wayne for info: 661-951-7727.

The Academy is a proud sponsor of Art Studio AV, meeting every 2nd Saturday at 2 pm, each month. Come share your art, learn about art, or take an art class from our mentors. Join this group FREE and participate in fun, family friendly group events each quarter, and art classes twice monthly. Mentors from all art mediums rotate projects, and help expose our youth to fine art, sculpture, ceramics, mosaics with glass, and painting on water. Call today, to enjoy this month's class, usually around $25 materials fee for a piece you can take home! Families welcome to work on a project together.
